Westerville Crew Waiver required of all participants:
Westerville Crew is offering three Learn to Row sessions in the summer of 2020 for high school age students and 8th graders. For those of shorter stature, a position is available as a coxswain (one who steers the boat and issues commands to the rowers). Sorry, we do not offer Learn to Row for 7th graders or younger. Your son or daughter will learn about the awesome sport of rowing, how to row, will make new friends, and most off all will get to enjoy exercising in the great summer weather on the Hoover Reservoir!
Westerville Crew rows on Hoover Reservoir with the facility and dock located at: JCC Campgrounds 4290 E Walnut St. Westerville, Oh 43081

- The cost is $125 for one/first session, subsequent sessions will cost $100. Fees include a FREE tee shirt and boat entry to the Midwest Summer Sprints Championships Regatta on August 1, 2020. The learn-to-row rower will be entitled to row for the remainder of the summer LTR sessions AS AN INTERMEDIATE ROWER. (This is not available to those who have previously completed the Learn-to-Row program in previous summers.) Payment is due the first night of practice. Payment information will be emailed upon registration.
Once your child has completed ONE session of learn to row, he or she can continue rowing over the Summer during the remaining learn to row sessions as an intermediate rower. (If you register for more than one session, subsequent sessions are $100). The intermediate rowers will be coached by our head novice coaches continuing to increase their skills as rowers, develop a more technically sound stroke, and preparing them for an easy transition into the novice level if he or she plans to continue rowing into Fall season.
Parents need to know:
On the first rowing night, waiver and payment is due. Westerville Crew personnel will be available to collect paperwork/checks and to answer any questions or concerns. Please drive straight down driveway and use the turn-around to drop-off and pickup kids. They walk through the field to the road and follow it down to the our site near the water. The parking lot is for older kids who drive and park their car during practice. Please DO NOT drop-off/pickup kids in the parking lot, or drive down the path towards the boats.
Detailed information about Learn to Row will be emailed prior to the first night of practice.
Please sign up for notifications for changes to the practice schedule due to weather. The team is using the "Remind" app for athletes and parents to get text notifications for Learn To Row. Sign up by sending a text to 81010 with the message @wrcltr
All rowers must bring a water bottle and wear socks! Compression /spandex shorts are recommended but not required. Don't forget to apply sunscreen to your child before practice.
