Westerville Crew is so excited that we are FINALLY able to offer a two week Learn to Row camp! This camp will run differently than any camp we have offered in the past, with a unique perspective as we will have our first class of rowers who will learn to row in single boats. This is actually a more European model of rowing, and we are so fortunate to be the only club in Central Ohio with the ability to teach a camp in this method, as we have enough single boats to be able to teach our newest rowers in this manner.
We will be offering Learn to Row from 8/10/20 - 8/21/20, Monday though Friday, in two groups. Your son or daughter will learn about the awesome sport of rowing, how to row, will make new friends, and most off all will get to enjoy exercising in the great summer weather on the Hoover Reservoir!
**Learn to Row is offered for youth 8th Grade and older.
Westerville Crew rows on Hoover Reservoir with the facility and dock located at: JCC Campgrounds 4290 E Walnut St. Westerville, Oh 43081
When? 8/10/20 - 8/21/20, Monday though Friday, in two groups.
The club is offering two separate sessions: you will select one HERE:

Group B- Arrive at 5:45 to walk to the boatyard. Practice starts at 6:00 sharp. Rowers will be actively practicing, learning about rowing, and on the water until 7:15, then walking back to the cars for pick up by 7:30 pm.
*If there is a rain/bad weather day, athletes might do alternative workouts or have a make up session.
Registration is limited to First Come, First Served. There will be 11 spots in each session. Subsequent sessions *may* happen if the two become full. The Learn to Row sessions are mixed groups.
The cost is $125 for the session. Payment can be made by check to Westerville Crew and delivered the first night, or paid online HERE.
Once your child has completed Learn to Row, he or she will be prepared for an easy transition into the novice level if he or she plans to continue rowing into Fall season.
Parents need to know: On the first rowing night, payment is due. Westerville Crew personnel will be available to collect checks and to answer any questions or concerns. On the first night, feel free to park in the parking lot briefly to walk your child to the registration table and have questions answered. For drop off on all other nights, please drive straight down the driveway and use the turn-around to drop-off and pickup kids. They walk through the field to the road and follow it down to the our site near the water. The parking lot is for older kids who drive and park their car during practice. Please DO NOT drop-off/pickup kids in the parking lot, or drive down the path towards the boats.
Detailed information about Learn to Row will be emailed prior to the first night of practice.
Please sign up for notifications for changes to the practice schedule due to weather. The team is using the "Remind" app for athletes and parents to get text notifications for Learn To Row. Sign up by sending a text to 81010 with the message @wrcltr
All rowers must wear a mask, bring a water bottle and wear socks! Compression/spandex shorts are recommended but not required.
