SPRING 2012 REGISTRATION WILL BE UP SOON.  PLEASE CHECK BACK THE beginning of March.

THANK YOU!

Please complete Registration and Online Waiver Submission (below). ALL of these steps must be completed. The sooner that you can do this the better. It will help us to know who is on the roster as well as plan for volunteer positions. We are asking parents to please sign up for two jobs for the Hoover Invitational. The exception would be if you are planning on driving a launch or timing all day - then one job is OK.

Register online. This MUST be completed by the date of the Parent Meeting. Please do this even if you completed it last season. Rowers are not added to the roster until registration is complete. Signups for volunteer positions are included in the registration process. We are an all-volunteer club. Parents are required to sign up for at least one job under the Club Activities section and the WCrew-hosted Regatta section. This will give the club a starting point for volunteer assignments, but reassignments are likely to occur. We appreciate your cooperation!

Online waivers are a huge time-saver for you and your coaches.  It allows each regatta in which you participate to simply check online to see  if your waiver is current.  With the old paper system, at a regatta with several thousand athletes, it required several thousands paper waivers-- boxes of them-- to be checked.  Online waivers are wonderful!

So sign your online waivers for regatta participation.  Go to https://www.regattacentral.com/athletes and submit the roster code QC-576448.  That is the code for Westerville Crew, and register your athlete. (Only athletes at least 18 years of age can register themselves.  Younger than 18 yrs requires a parent to do the registration. This online waiver must be completed to row in regattas.

Note: USRowing requires online waivers signed at the beginning of each year, but the waiver applies for the entire year (spring and fall seasons). Therefore, if you sign for the spring season, you are good to go for the remainder of the year.

IMPORTANT: Waivers must be submitted by the athlete or their legal guardian. (Coaches are not permitted to submit a waiver on a rower's behalf)

How does this process work?
1. When your enter your Roster Code and  last name, the system will attempt to locate their record in your club's roster. If it is located, you will be prompted to submit their waiver and receive a free, non-privileged USRowing Membership ID (Required beginning in 2008 for all USRowing-registered regattas).

2. If you have not yet been added to your club's roster, the system will automatically add your name.

Rowers: If you can't remember your USRA number, then write to tchase@medtuity.com. Trish can get it for you. Please try and avoid duplicate numbers. It wreaks havoc when trying to prove online waiver status.

Club fees cover the cost of the hotel stay for a single ‘over-nighter’ regatta per season for all youth rowers. That over-nighter is announced at the beginning of the year.  For the fall of 2011, it will be the Frogtown Regatta in Toledo.  For parents and other ‘day trip’ out-of-town regattas, the club arranges special room rates at designated hotels for parents/rowers. When these arrangements become available, the information will be posted on this website, and it is recommended that you reserve your room early, as supply is limited. Parents are responsible for making their own reservations and paying for their rooms.

For the out-of-town day trips, expect to leave early (4 a.m.) if not reserving a hotel room. All parents are expected to drive their rowers to regattas. If you are unable to drive to a regatta, you must contact Karen Gainey ( karengainey@yahoo.com ) at least one week prior to the regatta. She will attempt to find your rower a ride.

Westerville Crew website: http://www.westervillecrew.org/

Bookmark and check it often. The sport of rowing is weather-dependent. Practice will occur during rain, but will be called off due to high wind, lightening and thunder. Please check this website daily for announcements and practice updates. Westerville Crew does not operate via blast emails. Instead we use Twitter. Please follow the instructions below to follow us on Twitter. ALWAYS check the website if the weather looks questionable. We will have alternate workout plans or cancelations posted BY 4:15pm. Twitter servers are sometimes overloaded (especially on Friday). Feel free to sign up for our discussion link to ask questions or suggest ideas.

Twitter: This is a very useful communication tool for the club. Twitter gives Headcoach Matt Chase the ability to send messages from his mobile phone to the mobile phone (or email) of twitter users that have been setup to follow WCrew. These messages also appear on the homepage of the Westerville Crew website. If you would like to receive twitter updates on your cell phone, you will need to set up a twitter account and ‘follow’ WCrew. If you would like to use the full capabilities of Twitter, follow this link and view the video tutorial: http://help.twitter.com/home. If you plan to only follow WCrew on Twitter, you may find it easier to follow the instructions on the 'Twitter Setup' document below.

Thank you for your patience with our registration process.
Your cooperation is appreciated!
